June 5th is… 2012 World Environment Day (WED)!
WED is aimed to be the biggest, most widely celebrated, global day for positive, environmental action. Commemorated on 5th June since 1972, WED is one of the principal vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.
June 8th is… 2012 World Oceans Day (WOD)!
WOD is an opportunity every year to honor the world's oceans, celebrate the products the ocean provides, such as seafood as well as marine life itself, and also a time to appreciate its own intrinsic value.
In celebration of the World Environment Day and World Oceans Day, Ocean Park has launched a variety of park-wide celebrations, including the exhibition of event posters and banners. The environmental protection message was also promoted on Facebook, our website as well as at the Park’s shows and educational programs to encourage visitors to support the event.
Ocean Park promoted World Environment Day and World Oceans Day together with environmental protection message to all staff through email. Furthermore, our staff joined an environmental film show on 13th June. The purpose of the event was to raise staff awareness on the importance of environmental protection on the Earth’s ecosystem. All participants also made a pledge to protect the environment and cherish resources during the event.
