Whale (Secondary 4 - 6) - Physics in Motion

“Physics in Motion” offers the opportunity to use state-of-art learning facilities and to hop one of Ocean Park’s mechanical rides. Students will discover the most exciting ride in the Park and design their own rides. Learning physics isn’t all boring theory anymore.

    Part I: Briefing (45 minutes)

    Briefly introduce the missions and learn how to use the special equipment for ”Experience the Thrills”.

    Part II: Experience the Thrills (around 3.5 hours)

    Jump on the rides in Thrill Mountain, collect data and take videos to analyze these thrilling movements.
    Rides include:

    • Hair Raiser: Understand the law of energy conservation
    • Whirly Bird: Experience circular motion in the air
    • Bumper Blaster: Test the theory of collision and action-reaction pairs

    Part III: Practical Workshop (1.5 hours)

    Do-it-yourself! Students create their own thrill rides using their knowledge of physics.

    ˇ Includes educational programme and self-visit at the Park until 15:30

    Ocean Park issues 1 teacher complimentary ticket for every 10 student tickets purchased per group, so they can accompany students to the classroom session. An extra programme fee applies for any additional teacher to enter the Park. Students cannot use the teacher complimentary tickets, and vice versa. All participants are expected to leave Ocean Park after the education programme. Participants who would like to remain at the Park and enjoy its facilities after the programme must apply in advance and pay a stay-behind surcharge.

    The programme fees are valid until 31 August 2019.
