Ocean Park Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Birthday Party-themed Float and the Debut of Cute Series Mascots “Whiskers and Friends” Lunar Lucky Fiesta Enlightens the Year of the Rooster with an Array of Festive Offerings

2017-01-13

In commemoration of the Park’s 40th Anniversary, Ocean Park has specially designed a celebration float with the design based on a birthday party theme to participate in the 2017 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade, hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, to spread Chinese New Year greetings to everyone in town. A cute series of new mascots, Whiskers and Friends, will also be introduced to the public for the first time to celebrate this special occasion, and wish everyone a happy Year of the Rooster!

The design concept of this year’s float originates from the idea of a mobile gallery, with varying sizes of film reels and LED screen mounted on the float to display photos and videos of memorable moments created at Ocean Park throughout the years. The Park’s cute series of new mascots, Whiskers and Friends, in the form of fibre-glass installations, will make its first public appearance on-board the float, while Whiskers will be present to personally share his blessings with the audience. The parade team will include a large birthday cake, giant animal-shaped inflatables, and energetic performances by dancers and stilt performers in colourful party costumes to liven up the atmosphere, and beckon the audience to join the fun-filled festivity.

Vivian Lee, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing of Ocean Park, said “We specially designed a birthday party-themed float to give everyone an opportunity to reminisce about the wonderful times they have spent with their friends and families at the Park over the past 40 years. The cute series of new mascots will add vibrancy to the parade as they lead the audience into the Year of the Rooster, while spreading conservation messages.”

From 28 January to 12 February 2017, Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta will present guests with a series of exciting shows and decorations to welcome a prosperous and lucky Year of the Rooster. At the Waterfront Plaza, guest can take a stroll through the Lunar Floral Garden, and capture happy moments in front of festive decorations, including golden roosters, fortune wheels, and drums that symbolize prosperity to herald the coming of the Chinese New Year!
