(4 May 2010 – Hong Kong) According to the Attraction Attendance 2009 report released by TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) and the consultancy firm, AECOM Economics, on 26 April, Ocean Park Hong Kong was ranked as the world’s number 14 theme park based on its annual attendance of 4.8 million for the 2008/2009 fiscal year, up one spot from the previous year. This is based on annual attendance, which was 4.8 million for the 2008/2009 fiscal year. Ocean Park also came in 5th in the Asia region, and continues to uphold its leading position in China.

According to TEA/AECOM* analysts, despite the global downturn, Asia continues to be the foremost emerging market and promises strong growth well into the future. Moreover, with key fundamentals in place such as an expanding middle class, increasing incomes levels as well as growing demand for entertainment and leisure time, Asia proves to be the perfect location for tourism and economic developments. The analysts expect Asia to fast track the global growth curve both in terms of visits per capita and worldwide market share.

Ocean Park Chief Executive, Tom Mehrmann, said,”We are very happy with the findings and would like to thank our guests and business partners for supporting us throughout the years.  With the Hong Kong economy faring well, Ocean Park has seen satisfactory attendance since the turn of the year. As the report mentioned, the economic climate in Asia is improving and will likely be beneficial to the tourism industry. As such, we maintain a positive outlook on the Park’s future.”
