6,000 OCEAN PARK GUESTS VOTED FOR HONG KONG PEOPLE’S FAVORITE CHRISTMAS TREES

2008-12-29

(Hong Kong – 29 December 2008) Four out of 200 Christmas trees in Ocean Park’s Christmas Starlight Forest, a key attraction for Ocean Park Christmas Sensation 2008, became Hong Kong People’s Favorite Christmas Trees. These special trees were decorated by people from the local community.

People from more than 70 community organizations, including primary and secondary schools, universities, district councils and international business chambers, took part to decorate these trees under four master themes: “Conservation”, “Cyber”, “Romance” and “Around the World”. Between 13 to 27 December, nearly 6,000 guests cast their votes for their favorite Christmas trees. A presentation ceremony was held today at Ocean Park to recognise the winners for each of the four themes, and the winner of the “Most Favorite” entry with the highest votes.

“As Hong Kong’s people’s park, Ocean Park is grateful to the support of the district councils and friends from the community towards this unique Christmas tree decoration activity. We hope to engage our community in ways that can also showcase their creativity. Our guests showed great enthusiasm in enjoying all the 200 trees on offer, as well as participating in the voting process. I am glad to see everyone really enjoying themselves here at Ocean Park this Christmas,” said Tom Mehrmann, Ocean Park Chief Executive.

Ocean Park Christmas Sensation 2008 features more than 30 regular attractions and 13 all-new attractions as well as 50 impressive performances, including Ice Odyssey, a skating spectacle starring award-winning international skaters from nine countries, spectacular mid-air adventure Touch the Sky, the festive and fun-filled Santa’s Holiday Express as well as an exotic African experience at Madagascar 2 Live.
