Due to Popular Demand, Ocean Park Extends "Ice Mystique" Show for the Month Of March

2006-02-07

(7 February 2006, Hong Kong) Ocean Park has broken its daily attendance record during Chinese New Year thanks to the continued support from Hong Kong people and visitors attending Ocean Park’s Lunar Lucky Fiesta. The spectacular Ice Mystique MegaShow has been such a hit, Ocean Park will extend the show period run for the month of March to allow more Hong Kong people and visitors to be entertained by the stunning performance.

Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta recorded an attendance of 260,000 visitors in the first eight days of Chinese New Year, which was the total attendance recorded for the entire lunar new year period last year. Ocean Park also broke its daily attendance record on the third day of Chinese New Year welcoming over 47,000 visitors for the entire day, making it the highest-attendance level recorded in the Park’s 29-year history for a single day.

“The support from Hong Kong people and visitors has been overwhelming. We are delighted and grateful so many people have chosen to spend the New Year at Ocean Park. The attendance ratio of local Hong Kong people has jumped from 40 percent in 2005 to 57 percent this year proving that we continue to be loved by the people of Hong Kong as Hong Kong’s home-grown theme park. We’re pleased to extend the show period of the popular Ice Mystique Megashow for the month of March and thank our talented ice skaters from Las Vegas for dazzling our guests,” said Mr. Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park.

Mehrmann added, “We are proud to let you know that more spectacular events and attractions will be launched from next month as part of our plan to redevelop the Park into the world’s leading marine-based theme park. We are committed to our mission of connecting people with nature and providing great value for our Hong Kong and international guests.”

As a reminder, from 10th January 2006 to 10th January 2007, in celebration of Ocean Park’s approaching 30th Birthday as “Hong Kong People’s Park”, local residents can gain free admission into the Park on their birthday. So, join in the festivities and make 2006 a very special year for you and Ocean Park!
