Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong

(Hong Kong – 28 August 2006) Ocean Park Chief Executive, Tom Mehrmann, announced that over one million guests have already visited the Park between 1 July 2006 and today, making this a new attendance record for the summer period. As a token of appreciation and a run-up to the Park’s 30th anniversary, Ocean Park will run a Hong Kong Identity Card/Birth Certificate Promotion between 1 and 30 September.

Mr Mehrmann attributed the record attendance to the enthusiastic response by local and overseas guests to the Caribbean Summer Splash event, the Park’s unique attractions, and the mostly favorable weather condition.

“Guests responded very well to the Caribbean Summer Splash activities, as well as our animal presentations, nature shows, and exhibits, which proved just as popular, with a record number of visits made,” Mr Mehrmann said. “We are happy to see our guests fully embracing our efforts to connect people with nature. We will continue to strengthen this differential quality, as we take Hong Kong people’s favorite park forward with our redevelopment plans,” he added.

“We thank our loyal local and international guests for their continuous support of the park and our seasonal offerings, “ Mr Mehrmann said.

As summer draws to a close, Mr Mehrmann announced that, for the entire month of September, anyone with a Hong Kong Identity Card or Hong Kong Birth Certificate with “3” and/or “0” as part of the ID card or certificate numbers can enjoy special discounts on gate admissions, as Ocean Park gears up for its 30th anniversary in January.

Different configurations of “3” and “0” will have different levels of discounts.

For example, a 30% will be offered on card or certificate numbers with “3” and “0” joined together in succession, whilst a 20% discount will be offered if there are both “3” and “0,” but separated by other numbers, in the combination. A 10 % discount will be offered to card or certificates with either one “3” or one “0”. (See Appendix for details.)

This promotion only applies to day tickets bought at Ocean Park’s main entrance and Tai Shu Wan ticketing counters. Some conditions apply.

“Ocean Park has had 30 wonderful years, and we want to thank the Hong Kong people for their loyal support with this promotion. On top of this, we are still running the birthday promotion, launched in January 2006, whereby anyone who comes to the Park on their birthday gets in free,” Mr Mehrmann said.
