Ocean Park officially launches “Gala of Lights”, an extraordinary integrated night-time entertainment experience featuring 360-degree water-based multimedia shows and exciting interactive installations never before seen in Hong Kong, along with time-limited themed dining and an array of unique souvenirs. To mark the Park’s 43rd anniversary, the Park has also unveiled a promotion for Hong Kong citizens with special offers including free admission for children aged 11 or below.

Officiated by Eliza Lee, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism); Joe Wong, Commissioner for Tourism; Jeff Nankivell, Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao; Yiu-kai Pang, Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board; Miranda Kwok, President and Executive Director of China Construction Bank (Asia); Leo Kung, Chairman of Ocean Park; Ming-wai Lau, Deputy Chairman of Ocean Park and Matthias Li, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, “Gala of Lights” will be staged at Ocean Park from 6:30 pm to 10 pm every evening.

“With more than two years of preparation, the Park is excited to officially introduce ‘Gala of Lights’, which will take guests on an all-new oceanic adventure in a totally immersive multi-sensory experience. The Park is grateful for the Government’s funding support on the project. It is a whole new experience for Hong Kong and a long-awaited tourism highlight, elevating the Park’s competitiveness as well as what Hong Kong has to offer as a city that never stops,” said Leo Kung, Chairman of Ocean Park.

“The launch also represents an important milestone of Ocean Park’s transformation into a diversified world-class resort destination. Guests can now extend their stay at the Park from day to night, and indulge in gourmet food and drinks as they take in the breathtaking shows and entertainment,” continued Kung.

The night-time extravaganza boasts two new immersive multimedia shows, created by award-wining multimedia studio Moment Factory, at the Park’s iconic The Grand Aquarium and Aqua City Lagoon, which have been modified and refurbished for the productions. A newly created semi-submerged stage at the Aqua City Lagoon, which is seen as beautiful water fountains by day and a full show venue with a 360-degree stage by night, offers guests unique experiences from different viewing areas.

Explore the “Soul of the Ocean”
Guests will be astonished by “Soul of the Ocean”, a one-of-a-kind spectacle tale celebrating nature in all its wonder. The show comprises state-of-the-art projection mapping, original music, and surprising special effects like flaming jets, mist and dancing water fountains, as well as an action-packed performance by 20 artistes on stage that brings together athletic parkour, synchronised dancing and thrilling acrobatics, choreographed by The 7 Fingers.

This story shines a spotlight on the relationship between man and nature and the role we get to play as humans, taking care of our planet and all its wonders. The journey starts with the mysterious Lagoon Keepers summoning ANIMO, an ancient spirit that awaken at night in the heart of the lagoon. Appearing as a colourful bird, ANIMO then transforms herself into various forms, including a reptile, a school of fish and even fire, bringing guests on a joyful adventure from sky to sea.

Be inspired by Visions of Hong Kong
Collaborating closely with the Ocean Park team, Moment Factory has created the evening’s grand finale, “Visions of Hong Kong”, a dazzling multimedia fountain show that takes the audience on an inspirational journey through the city and beyond. With Hong Kong as its muse, the show travels through dreamy and impressionist landscapes that feature the iconic skyline of Victoria Harbour with all its skyscrapers, the neon lights that sparkle through the streets of Hong Kong from day to night and the natural lush green nature of the surrounding mountains ending with a flourishing wishing tree. Surprising special effects will immerse the audience in the experience with lasers and flaming jets during the show.

In addition to the two shows, exciting entertainment awaits guests at every corner of the Aqua City Lagoon. Whether taking a stroll down the dazzling “Coral Alley as vibrant lights pulse and shimmer, or heading to the Interactive Drums to hit the drums next to the Lagoon and make the water dancing to the beats – there will be something for everyone.

Time-limited gourmet food and customisable souvenirs to complete the memory
To indulge guests from the eyes to the taste buds, a variety of culinary options will be presented together with the amazing shows, including two Soul of the Ocean” Show Dinner menus – the scrumptious “Heritage and Precious Tasting Menu” designed by internationally acclaimed chef Qu Hao using 200-year-old Japanese Hamadaya soy sauce and ingredients from Kumamoto, while the “Ginger Grill Gala Dinner Set” featuring authentic Thai flavours. Choices of snacks and wines will also be available at the food kiosks and bar at Lakeside Chill.

In addition, guests can take home unique and customisable merchandise from OPX, the Park’s brand new experiential store, to complete the evening.
