Cool Summer Fun at Ocean Park with "Caribbean Summer Splash 2006" Hong Kong Celebrities Join the Magic of Caribbean Carnival

(Hong Kong, 15 July, 2006) - The Caribbean fever has finally landed at Ocean Park, as some of today’s most with-it artists from the local entertainment scene, Don, Mandy, Vincy and the three beautiful chefs, accompanied Ocean Park chief executive, Tom Mehrmann, and joined 20 Cuban troupe performers, performing for the first time in Hong Kong, and gyrated to the pulsating Cuban beat put on for the Caribbean Spectacular at Ocean Park. But that’s not all…the Caribbean Summer Splash, this year’s annual Ocean Park summer offering, launched today, also promises street carnivals with boisterous and vibrant-looking performers, as well as water obstacle games and foam parties with hungry pirates close at your heels.

The "Caribbean Summer Splash 2006" at Ocean Park is the only event in town where pure imagination and the magic of carnival and dangerous pirates become real, right in front of your eyes, and as spectators are suddenly transformed into performers. This Caribbean fever will last from 15 July through to 3 September 2006 only, so grab your gear and quickly head on down to Ocean Park.

Additionally, swashbuckling adventures with mysterious, pistol-wielding pirates and larger than life street performances led by a crowd of nimble acrobats and stunning dancers, will set your senses on fire. If things get too hot to handle, Caribbean Splash at the park will soon cool you down with daring water games.

Everyday, shows feature the “Caribbean Spectacular”, which brings the true spirit of Cuba to Hong Kong with a legion of Cuban performers flown in specially from the famous island nation. Through songs, dance and colours exotic carnival has the power to bring people onto their feet, and this summer at the park, the magnetic charm of Caribbean street carnival will inspire you for sure.

On “Pirate Island”, watch dashing pirates prepare to sail the seas in their own pirate ship. Armed and dangerous, gold is most precious to this band of sworn brothers, so be prepared to tackle their centuries old battle skills in a special pirate themed water obstacle game, and watch out for the foam spraying cannon in this battle!

Energy levels continue to run high at “The Dancing Fountains”, where dance fever will make you jump for joy. For those looking for some water magic, be sure to head for the “Misty Slide”, while thrill seekers who dare to aim high can fly through the air with the “Bungee Trampoline”. Let’s not forget activities for the kids, such as: the foam area, dancing fountains, pirate masks, and so on. Meanwhile, at the “Caribbean Paint Academy” the whole family can paint and decorate colourful Mardi Gras style masks, which they can take home as souvenirs.

On Saturday evenings, the fiesta continues as the whole park is lit up with a flood of lights. Imagine, watching your favourite “Dolphin Show” and dancing to the pure rhythms of “Night Carnival” under the evening sky. On Saturdays, the beat goes on at the Park until 11pm.

Ocean Park’s "Caribbean Summer Splash 2006" will also take food enthusiasts on a culinary adventure. Throughout the period, The Bayview Restaurant will serve a sizzling array of exotic island dishes. Food kiosks throughout the park will also offer additional Caribbean style foods. So, what are you waiting for?
