Ocean Park Halloween Fest 2019 kicks off today when Lau Ming-Wai, Deputy Chairman of Ocean Park, unveils the Park’s ultimate haunted experience and attractions with spooky ghosts and haunted characters.
Bringing Guests into the World of Haunted Stories with a Whole New Approach
This year, Ocean Park Halloween Fest is back with a whole new Park-wide approach in which spooky elements goes beyond haunted houses to shroud six haunted zones around the Park in mystery. Every haunted zone is based upon a themed story which the creative team approached from various angles to construct a physical space of terror. Each story manifests itself through the set, lighting and acoustic effects, highlighted further by street actors, whereby guests will naturally become one of the roles in an interactive horror story.
At Hong Kong Hauntgrounds, a phantom housing estate and playground, guests will relive the grisly tales behind the urban legends of abandoned public housing estates of the 70s and 80s by visiting the mysterious fortune teller or attending a séance with a ghost medium to contact the spirit of a woman who died tragically and became the phantom queen. Premium ticket holders can get aboard the VR Minibus Terror, an exclusive virtual reality ride filled with thrilling screams and excitement. Another horror zone inspired by local urban legends is The Old Street of Hungry Ghosts, where supernatural phenomena occur anywhere from alleyways to restrooms.
A taste of Hong Kong will also be blended into HELL-TV's Anniversary Supershow presented by Neway in the Applause Pavilion. The show features gags based on current affairs and hot topics as well as a range of celebrated international performers, including The ADEM Dance Crew – the Golden Buzzer winning team of Asia’s Got Talent. Coupled with the latest real time tracking and projection mapping technology, specially designed lighting and tailored choreography, the show is set to bring a brand new experience to guests.
“The Later You Stay, the Bigger the Scares” – A Frightening Experience that Lasts until Midnight
Another highlight of this year’s Halloween Fest is “The later you stay, the bigger the scares”. The escalating scares will begin at 5pm, with darkness closing in as the hours pass by. At 8:44pm sharp, the “20:44 – Hell Invades!” parade will introduce the first climax of the night when the Ambassadors of Hell escort a coffin to the Waterfront for a mysterious ritual. At 10:30pm, under the control of the Queen of Dark Night, paranormal creatures from every corner of the Park will freakishly dance in sync amidst dim lights and chilling music for the biggest scare! Ghosts will also give away lucky packets to bid farewell to guests from 11pm.
A Significant Increase in Premium Ticket Sales and Chartered Event Bookings
Powered by the brand new approach, this year’s Halloween Fest has been well received by the public. “Public response has been very positive since the announcement of this year’s Halloween Fest in August,” said Lau Ming-Wai, Deputy Chairman of Ocean Park. “Thanks to the early bird promotion, we have seen a 25% surge in premium ticket sales year on year. Another testimony to the attractiveness of the new event format is that our chartered event bookings have doubled compared to last year.”
