(Hong Kong – 23 April 2011) With the Easter four-day long weekend started yesterday, have you planned how to celebrate with your loved ones? For some children who are staying in hospitals and might not have the opportunity to participate in the usual Easter festivities, Ocean Park, as Hong Kong people’s park, has committed to bring joy to them during this holiday period. Today, Ocean Park’s Whiskers and clowns paid a special visit to around 50 patients at the Paediatric Ward of Queen Mary Hospital, where the children enjoyed magic performances, savoured sumptuous home-made panda-shaped cookies, and received many exciting gifts such as panda plush toys and twisted balloons from their newly-met friends from Ocean Park. The ward was instantly lit with the children’s happy faces and filled with warmth and laughter.
Mrs. Lui’s six-year old daughter has just undergone a heart surgery. She has to stay in the hospital for a week, and she is very delighted about Ocean Park’s special visit, “This is truly my most memorable Easter party, as I have never imagined Whiskers and the clowns would visit me at the hospital and celebrate it with me. Whiskers is really cute - I took many pictures with him and he even gave me Easter presents! I wish to recover soon so my parents can take me to Ocean Park.”
Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, said, “Ocean Park values these connections to the community very much as they serve as great opportunities for us to extend our corporate social responsibilities. We are pleased to be able to bring our core values of education, entertainment and conservation out of the Park directly to the lives of the people of Hong Kong, and our efforts are greatly rewarded by the smiles we see on the faces of all the children and parents.”
