The Chief Executive proposed in the 2025 Policy Address that the Government will further promote tourism development through cultural festivals, tourism projects and mega events, including continuing to lead Ocean Park in sustaining the giant panda craze. Ocean Park Corporation warmly welcomes the measures.
Paulo Pong, Chairman of the Board of Ocean Park Corporation, said, “The giant panda craze has opened up new opportunities for Ocean Park. Alongside a variety of themed attractions and festive activities, the Park has introduced the Panda Friends IP characters and an extensive range of panda-themed merchandise, all of which have garnered encouraging market responses. Ocean Park will continue to leverage the charm of Hong Kong’s six giant pandas, sharing their growth journeys and conservation messages through online and offline activations and experiences, as well as creative products and tourism offerings.”
Regarding the development of “Ecology + Tourism”, Pong noted, “Ocean Park has always been dedicated to providing visitors with unique experiences that blend nature, leisure, and adventure. We will fully utilise our expertise in ecotourism and marine tourism to inspire citizens and tourists of all ages to explore Hong Kong’s rich biodiversity.”
The Park concurs that promoting mega events plays a key role in attracting tourists to extend their stay and make repeat visits to Hong Kong. The Park will continue to work closely with various organisers, actively participate in major events, and launch related tourism experience packages to draw visitors to Ocean Park during these mega events.
Furthermore, Ocean Park is well positioned to support the promotion of Muslim tourism. Its Muslim-friendly facilities include fully equipped prayer rooms, washrooms, and Halal-certified restaurants and kiosks. The Park has been awarded Gold rating by the world’s leading authority on halal-friendly travel, CrescentRating.
