(May 9, 2012, Hong Kong) Ocean Park collaborates with 7-Eleven to launch Hong Kong’s first theme park electronic ticketing service in a convenient chain store, allowing guests to purchase Ocean Park admission tickets at over 900 7-Eleven outlets throughout Hong Kong. With the launch of recent new attraction areas and promotional offers, Mr. Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, expects the new ticketing platform to bring Park attendance to another all-time high, estimating a 10% growth in summer attendance compared to last year.
Ocean Park adult daytime tickets (HK$280) and child daytime tickets (HK$140) are available for purchase at all Hong Kong 7-Eleven outlets now. Electronic tickets can be purchased within seconds, thus eliminating the potential queuing time at Ocean Park’s main entrance ticketing counters. With a ticket validity period of at least one month, guests can simply present their electronic tickets by scanning barcode at the Ocean Park main entrance turnstiles and gain instant admission to the Park on the date of visit. Furthermore, customers purchasing electronic tickets at 7-Eleven from now till May 31 will receive an in-Park F&B cash coupon worth up to HK$100 in value. Guests visiting any restaurants within Ocean Park are also entitled to receive a complimentary Mother’s Day or Father’s Day special drink. With offers worth up to $140 in total, this is equal to receiving a 50% discount off the admission price.
Mr. Tim Chalk, Chief Executive Officer of 7-Eleven Hong Kong and Macau, said, “7-Eleven Hong Kong benefits from the largest retail network in town, and continues to provide fast and convenient services to its customers. This collaboration with Ocean Park represents a new breakthrough for us. Making use of our extensive network and new technology, we hope to expand this electronic ticketing service to 7-Eleven Macau to offer the same high standard of services to our customers there. At the same time, we will continue to study the viability of different types of electronic ticketing services, with the hope of bringing “7-Connect Service Platform” even closer to the people of Hong Kong and introducing the new culture of convenience stores to its customers.”
Mr. Mehrmann said, “As a result of the many new attractions launched over the past 6 months, including the Thrill Mountain, Old Hong Kong and Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures, we have broken historical monthly attendance records every month starting from July 2011 to April
2012. In the coming high summer season of July and August, we will launch the last major milestone of the Master Redevelopment Plan, the Polar Adventure, as well as our annual Summer Splash offerings. We expect summer attendance to grow by 10% compared to last year.” Tom added, “Our collaboration with 7-Eleven provides a convenient alternative for purchasing tickets and immediately accessing the Park without waiting. With the convenience of quick entry to the Park, we are also providing more promotional discounts, thereby creating a more memorable theme park experience for our guests to enjoy.”
