YOUNG PANDAS AT OCEAN PARK HONG KONG CELEBRATE LUNAR NEW YEAR IN CRACKLING STYLE

2009-01-22

(Hong Kong - 22 January 2009) Firecrackers are must-have's to celebrate the Chinese New Year. To help giant panda pair, Ying Ying and Le Le, welcome in The Year of The Ox, they were given their very own firecrackers. These firecrackers are made from their favorite foods - carrots and bamboos.

They were also treated to the traditional "leen go" which, for them, is made from carrots and high-fibre biscuits! The "leen go" symbollises "rising every year."

Giant Pandas Ying Ying and Le Le were gifts from the Central People’s Government of China to the people of Hong Kong to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Since their arrival in Hong Kong on 26 April 2007, they have been staying at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat in Ocean Park, joining the two other giant pandas, An An and Jia Jia, who have been the conservation ambassadors at Ocean Park since 1999.

Please come to “Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta” to join the giant pandas Ying Ying, Le Le, An An and Jia Jia, to celebrate the Lunar New Year from 24 January to 8 February. Please refer to attached factsheet for the details of the “Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta”
