Ocean Park Hong Kong

Note To Parents

Dear Parents and Walkers,
Getting Ready for Junior Walkers and Adventurous Walkers!

Welcome on board! We believe that Walkers are excited about this fabulous adventure. We hope the detailed information below will equip Walkers and parents to get ready for the exploration with the best preparation.

WHAT SHOULD WALKERS PACK FOR PROGRAMME?

Essentials Optional items
  • Backpack
  • Water bottle (around 500ml)
  • Jacket
  • Hat
  • Raincoat (umbrella is not recommended)
  • Face Mask
  • Personal disinfectant products (i.e. Hand sanitizer)
  • Tissue paper
  • Sunscreen
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Sunglasses
  • Prescription medication (if necessary)

Please label all Walkers’ belongings. Every season we end up with lots of unclaimed items. All unclaimed items will be turned into Lost and Found at the end of the programme.

WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHING SHOULD WALKERS WEAR?

Each Walker will receive a name badge on the Registration day. Walkers are required to wear their name badges throughout the camp. This allows us to easily recognise Walkers when we are out in the Park with thousands of other visitors.

  • Pants are recommended. Skirts and dresses are not advised. Walkers will be doing all sorts of activities and moving around in the park. Please come prepared to get dirty!
  • Raincoat: Camp runs daily, rain or shine. Please make sure Walkers come prepared to brave the elements. We like to get outside, even when it's wet!
  • Footwear: Please make sure Walkers wear fit-sized and closed-toe shoes. No flip flops – as they will be running and walking long distances. Waterproof boots and a change of socks are good ideas in case of unpredictable weather!

WHAT FOOD AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED?

  • No food or drinks will be provided. Walkers are encouraged to bring their own bottles and educator can assist water refilling. Walkers can also bring small snacks for personal consumption if it is needed.
  • No spending money at the camp. Please do not bring money for food or gift shop items.
  • Allergies. If walkers are allergic to certain food/objects/animal, kindly indicate the conditions clearly on the application form. These information could help us understand our walkers better and provide any support or assistance when needed.

WHEN AND WHERE SHOULD PARENTS DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP WALKERS?

We will meet you next to the Ocean Park Main Entrance escalators, adjacent to Bus Stop 629. Please refer to the table below for the drop-off and pick-up times.

The beginning of the day will be very busy; please ensure enough time for registration. At registration, please present the confirmation letter (electronic version is acceptable) for verification. At the end of the programme, parents please also bring along the pick-up card (will be given at registration) for verification.

If Walkers are going to be late or absence from programme, please notify us as soon as possible at (852) 3923 2323 (choose the language and then press [4] for Ocean Park Discovery & Education Department)

PARKING

Free pick-up/drop-off parking will be provided for 30 minutes. When you enter the car park, please tell the ticketing staff you will stay for a 30-minute pick-up/drop-off. Avoid coming early and overstaying your 30 minutes!

If you want to park more than 30 minutes, HK$25 or HK$40 will be charged per hour, with a maximum charge of HK$150 or HK$200 per day, depending on the date of visit. You may reserve a parking space at least one day before your visit and pay the deposit online. Parking spaces will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Be aware that the car park often fills up fast during holidays. Please give yourself ample time to find a parking spot. For details, please click the button below.

We also recommend taking available public transport to Ocean Park, such as a bus or the MTR. The walk from the bus stop at Aberdeen Tunnel to Ocean Park is only 10 minutes. There is an MTR exit connecting directly to Ocean Park Main Entrance.

HOW DO PARENTS ASK FOR WALKERS TO BE ASSIGNED IN THE SAME CAMP GROUP?

You may request that friends and family be grouped together during registration, and we will try our best to meet your request (only applicable for the same class code). Each group can have a maximum of 6 Walkers.

WHAT IS THE INSTRUCTOR TO WALKERS RATIO?

The camp instructor to Walkers ratio is 1:6.

CAN PARENTS REQUEST SICK LEAVE FOR WALKERS?

Perhaps sometimes Walkers may feel a bit under the weather and there is a need to stay at home and/or to apply for a sick leave. Please inform us in advance at (852) 3923 2323 (choose the language and then press [4]). We may ask you to provide relevant substantiation document(s) and to describe the situation/symptom of the unwell so as to carry out any necessary follow-up measures. Subject to the presentation of a doctor’s certificate, a partial refund of impacted day(s) will be arranged after deducting an administration fee of HK$200.

If the programme has been cancelled, the complimentary daytime admission ticket cannot be rescheduled, refunded or redistributed. An administration fee of HK$200 will be charged to each sick leave (with doctor’s certificate), course change or refund request. Applicants must fill in the refund/ reschedule application form and return to us for processing.
