FOUR RED PANDAS CELEBRATE THEIR FIRST BIRTHDAYS AT OCEAN PARK HONG KONG WITH DELICIOUS PRESENTS

2009-06-15

(Hong Kong - 15 June 2009) Red pandas Tai Shan, Cong Cong and Li Zi turned one recently, and Rou Rou will celebrate her first birthday on 9 July! To celebrate their first birthdays at Ocean Park, they were given special treats made from their favourite foods - carrots, apples, kiwifruits and dragon fruits. (Picture 1)

Like all inquisitive teenagers, the four red pandas immediately checked out their gifts - with their noses, and quickly devoured the fruits within and outside the gift boxes (Pictures 2,3 & 4)!

The four red pandas consist of two males and two females born in the Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding Base. They are Ocean Park’s newest animal ambassadors which are residents of the newly-opened attraction – Amazing Asian Animals.

Come and say “Happy Birthday” to the four red pandas at Amazing Asian Animals now!

Amazing Asian Animals is eight-attractions-in-one-themed-area, with Giant Panda Adventure, where rare species such as the giant panda, red panda, Chinese giant salamander, and Chinese alligator reside. Closely following is the world’s first and only stand-alone goldfish exhibit in a theme park, Goldfish Treasures.  It features the world’s largest collection of over 300 goldfish of all shapes, sizes and colours, including the largest goldfish variety in the world.

To give guests a totally immersive experience in this area, Amazing Asian Animals will also present the future Waterfront area’s first dining and banquet facility – Panda Café – which features a host of popular Southeast Asian dishes, including signature Sichuan cuisines, and the Park’s first themed and largest signature souvenir shop, Panda Kingdom Shop, which is brimming with over 5,000 animal-themed items in over 350 styles.
