HONG KONG OCEAN PARK RECOGNISED BY WORLD PEERS

2008-03-25

(Hong Kong – 24 March 2008) Ocean Park is happy to note that an annual global theme park attendance report has ranked Ocean Park as among the top 20 theme parks in the world, and as one of Asia’s top five theme parks for annual attendance. Separately, Ocean Park has also received its renewal of accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), making the Park the only animal facility outside of the Americas to earn this important industry recognition and validation of superior animal care, which meets, or exceeds world standards, as established by the Association.

“The TEA/ERA Theme Park Attendance Report,” is an annual industry report which identifies the top theme parks in the world and publishes attendance statistics. This report is jointly produced by TEA (Themed Entertainment Association,) a leading international trade alliance for themed attractions, and ERA (Economic Research Associates,) a top international consultancy providing economic analysis for the entertainment and leisure industry. According to the report, Ocean Park Hong Kong “displayed strong attendance growth (in 2007) …leading to a record season.” Ocean Park, which reported a record attendance of 4.92 million for 2006/2007, was ranked 16th in the world, and number five in Asia for annual attendance.

In addition to the industry recognition, Ocean Park also reported its success in renewing its accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a validation from the world’s leading authority in zoological care and operations, of the Park’s professional accomplishments in animal husbandry, education and conservation.

This is the second five-year accreditation term in a row for Ocean Park, making the Park the only AZA-accredited animal facility in the world outside of the Americas.
