Ocean Park Calls for Giant Panda T-shirt Design Competition Entries Inviting Hong Kong People to Celebrate Giant Pandas’ Birthdays with ’Made in Hong Kong’ T-shirt Design Competition

Every August, Ocean Park celebrates the birthdays of its well-loved giant pandas.This year, in conjunction with Ocean Park’s 40th anniversary and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s (HKSAR) 20th anniversary, the Park will host a ‘Giant Panda Birthday Celebratory Party’, and invite Hong Kong people to ‘Get Their PANDAS On!’ at the Party, where a series of giant-panda-themed showpieces and 24 newly designed giant panda graphic T-shirts will be showcased at the debut launch. One of the highlights of this Party is the inaugural ’Made in Hong Kong’ Giant Panda T-shirt Design Competition, in which Hong Kong people are invited to submit creative T-shirt design entries to commemorate this occasion.
 
Chiefly organised by Ocean Park, with support from Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), Design Council of Hong Kong by Federation of Hong Kong Industries and PMQ Management Co. Ltd (PMQ), Ocean Park is inviting Hong Kong residents aged 18 and above to submit creative design entries themed on Ocean Park, the giant pandas and conservation of the species. The judging criteria will encompass the originality of design, creativity and strength of conservation message for the giant pandas.
 
Participants may submit their creative design from now to 31 May 2017. The 24 best entries will be presented during the fashion show segment of the Party in early August 2017. They will also be made into T-shirts by Ocean Park with a specially designed hangtag to elaborate on the cause and the designer’s profile. These T-shirts will be available for purchase at Ocean Park souvenir shops and other designated selling points by Ocean Park, for six months following the launch. Part of the revenue will be donated to Design Council of Hong Kong by Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong to support the local design community and advance conservation work for giant pandas respectively. The champion of the competition will also receive HK$6,000 cash reward and an Ocean Park Premium SmartFun Annual Pass.
