Ocean Park Celebrates the Holidays with Animal Ambassadors Animal Keepers Prepare Heart-warming Gifts for Animals

2014-11-24

This holiday period, Ocean Park extends best wishes to all guests with Ocean of Light, Hong Kong’s largest indoor lighting spectacle, while the Park’s animal keepers also spread their holiday cheer to all animal ambassadors by preparing heart-warming gifts for them so they can also immerse in the festive celebration and have a Merry Christmas, as well as a Happy New Year!

Using towels, fruit and high-fibre biscuits, animal keepers at the Amazing Asian Animals exhibit built a snowman puppet for giant panda Ying Ying, who curiously sniffs it. Red panda Cong Cong, who also resides at the same attraction, immerses in the festive atmosphere and wets his appetite as he begins to nibble away at the gingerbread men, specially baked from a concoction of high-fibre biscuits and vegetables by his animal keepers. Over at the Rainforest, birds peck at their favourite food and rejoice as they flutter in-and-out of a fruit and bamboo wreath that was beautifully arranged by their keepers.

At Ocean Theatre, Terry the sea lion snuggles up close to take a closer look at the colourful illustrations as an animal keeper tells him a tale. At the Pacific Pier, sea lions and spotted seals join-in a party hosted by their animal keepers, with igloos, Christmas trees, and gigantic presents!

Over at South Pole Spectacular, the adorable penguins crowd around their animal keeper who dressed as Santa Claus for the very first time, to receive their presents from Santa’s bucket of goodies.

Ocean Park transforms the 13,000-square-foot Applause Pavilion into Ocean of Light, Hong Kong’s largest indoor lighting spectacle, with millions of eco-friendly LEDs to showcase a miniature of Ocean Park. The attraction features 10 of the Park’s most iconic attractions, which span across the sea, land and sky, including the Grand Aquarium, the Ferris Wheel, the Cable Car, as well as over 50 adorable animal ambassadors, offering countless photo opportunities for guests and their loved ones to reminisce the memorable moment. The Park will also be immersed in festivities, including a striking 70-foot-tall Christmas tree at the Waterfront Plaza. Not only is it the tallest in the Park’s history, but also Hong Kong’s tallest outdoor Christmas tree this year. Doraemon and friends will also host, for the first time, the Doraemon Christmas Party House at Whiskers Harbour.
