Ocean Park Hong Kong and Samsung Everland Resort Announce New Partnership

2010-04-06

(Hong Kong - 6 April 2010) Ocean Park joined hands with Samsung Everland Resort from Yong In, Korea today in the announcement of a joint promotional partnership. From now, guests visiting Ocean Park in Hong Kong or Everland and Caribbean Bay in Yong In can enjoy a 10% reciprocal discount at the partnering theme park by presentation of their admission ticket stubs. In addition, annual pass holders of both parks can enjoy an enhanced benefit of up to 15% admission discount.

This partnership represents the union of Hong Kong and one of Korea’s signature theme parks, and is formed as a gesture to thank their guests for their loyalty and to provide more opportunities for visitors to experience the plethora of attractions available at the two parks, including family and thrill rides, animal attractions, festive shows and performances.

"We are honored to be working with Samsung Everland Resort on this exciting partnership opportunity.” Mr. Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, said. “Korea ranked in 2nd in terms of origination country of our tourist attendants in 2009. It has immense growth potential and is one of the major markets Ocean Park is focusing on.”

Mr. Mehrmann continues, “With this increasing tourism flow between Hong Kong and Korea, we see this partnership as an excellent opportunity to introduce more Korean visitors to Ocean Park, especially as we are expecting to open 2 new attractions to the public later this year, including Aqua City, our next milestone of the Master Redevelopment Plan, and the new Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium – Yangtze Exploration. Similarly, Everland has lined up an exciting list of attractions this year including the Herbivore Safari and a brand new Seal Performance. Through this partnership, we hope to allow our visitors and annual pass holders to enjoy an extended array of theme park experiences both locally or internationally.”

Speaking of the “Ocean Park’s World Attraction Fun Deals” reciprocal program, Mr. Mehrmann said, “We are currently partnering with 16 theme parks, zoos and aquariums in Asia and other parts of the world through this reciprocal program. Other recent additions to our “Fun Deals” family include San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay, Beijing Happy Valley and Taichung’s Yamay Theme Park.” He added, “As we continue to work with other attractions regionally and globally, we will come up with more value-for-money opportunities to give back to our guests so that they can extend their experiences out of Hong Kong and into overseas destinations as well.”
