Close Encounter With Ocean Park For Guangzhou Residents

2008-04-10

(Hong Kong - 10 April 2008) Ocean Park unveiled its first thematic showroom in Guangzhou, in partnership with Guangdong Nanhu International Travel Service (Nanhu,) one of Guangdong Province’s largest tour operators. This marks Ocean Park’s latest initiative to strengthen its presence in this key market, following the opening of its Guangzhou Representative Office in August 2006. Pictures One and Two show members of the Ocean Park management team with Nanhu’s representative at the thematic showroom unveiling ceremony.

Ocean Park Chief Executive, Tom Mehrmann, said, “Mainland guests form close to half of Ocean Park’s total attendance, and a major proportion of this are guests from Guangdong Province, so this is a very important market to us. We’ve always enjoyed a great relationship with Nanhu, and we are really excited to take our partnership further with the opening of this thematic showroom.”

He continued, “Nanhu’s shop is centrally-located at the heart of Guangzhou City, at Zhongshansan Road, just opposite the busy and very popular China Plaza. This perfect location enables us to be closer to our Mainland guests, making it that much simpler to experience Ocean Park’s unique offerings, and to connect with nature and our animal ambassadors. Guests who come into the shop for service and information will immediately be “transported” to Ocean Park, as this thematic showroom is specially decorated with many distinctive Ocean Park icons. We have also placed a replica of our cable car, and a statue of the mascot, Whiskers, for our guests to create the perfect photo opportunities, and to prepare them for the fantastic journey to fun and unique experiences at Ocean Park.”

Mr Mehrmann also said, “We will continue to develop and enhance our relationships with our many Mainland partners, and explore other partnerships and promotional opportunities in this important market.”

Getting to Ocean Park from almost anywhere in the Guangzhou area is also very simple as Ocean Park has developed comprehensive transportation packages with several land and sea operators, including Chu Kong Passenger Transport, Eternal East Cross-Border Coach and MTR Corporation.
