F&B and Retail Highlights of Ocean Park Halloween Fest 2013

2013-08-27

Ocean Park’s ever-creative chefs have once again come up with a wide variety of delicious and de-frightful dishes for guests of all ages visiting for the all-new, all day and night Halloween Fest.

Among this year’s frightfully fun dining offerings is Halloween Fest Set Menu. The set features Sustainable Crab Cake with Sesame Butter Sauce topped with a Thai Papaya Salad, filled in Baby Pumpkin, and Pumpkin Soup as appetizers. Packed with fresh flavours, the deep-fried crab cake offers a perfect combination of crispy and flaky textures to excite diners’ taste buds. Adding to the overall refreshing effect is a specially prepared sesame butter sauce. The papaya salad is presented inside a Jack-O’-Lantern pumpkin to enhance the festive atmosphere. The pumpkin soup, on the other hand, is topped with fun characters made with cream. With one of the main courses offering, diners will be awestruck by the pale, ghostly face that keeps the ingredients hidden.  Below this crust is a Baked Sea Bass Parcel with Lemon, Thyme and Chardonnay Sauce presented in Sea Salt Egg White Mask, garnished with Garden Greens.  Another main course option is Broiled U.S. Angus Beef Mignon with Pinot Noir Sauce accompanied with Sautéed Spinach and Croquette Potatoes. Bringing the meal to a sweat conclusion is Chocolate Truffle Cake with Ice Cream. For the first time ever, Ocean Park will offer the Halloween Fest Sunday Tea Buffet, which is available on Sundays during October at Neptune’s Restaurant.

Guests can enjoy for the first time this year Halloween Fest All-Day Breakfast, with fried eggs, sautéed chicken sausage with tomato sauce, baby pumpkin filled with baked beans, potato croquette, garden greens and banana pancake. Younger guests drawn to this new format of Halloween celebration can look forward to savouring the Halloween Fest Kids Menu, which includes Smoked Turkey and Fresh Fruits Mayo Salad in a Puff Pastry with Boiled Egg, Pan-fried Beef Patty on Spaghetti tossed with Basil-Pesto and Tomato Concassé Sauce and Green Tea Chocolate Mousse with Chestnut Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream. The dishes are decorated with adorable characters to make the dining experience extra fun. In addition, the catering department is offering for the first time a Halloween Cupcake DIY Workshop, where kids can learn how to make cupcakes and then decorate them with Halloween-themed characters, sweetening their festive enjoyment.

Halloween Fest Set Box is perfect for the afternoon. It features a Halloween Hot Dog, Crispy Battered Cross Trax Potatoes, Onion Rings and Boiled Pumpkin, and Pumpkin Mousse with Gummy Worms. As well, two items are specially available at Panda Café in Aqua City: Bockwurst Sausage Puff Rolls, and Spaghetti with Beef Ball and Pesto in Tomato Concassé Sauce, presented in Pumpkin. Aqua City Bakery, widely loved for its cakes and desserts, will have on offer a variety of Halloween-themed delights, such as Chocolate Pumpkin Tartlet, Halloween Pumpkin Mousse Cake, as well as Halloween Icing Cookies, Halloween Cupcake, and Green Tea Mousse Cake with Red Bean.

Ocean Park also put its creativity to work by giving the restaurants and food kiosks a fresh Halloween look. Café Ocean, for instance, will be transformed into a Creepy Dining Room. Catering staff will don Halloween costumes and wear scary make-up to create an immersive Halloween dining experience. In addition, two styles of Halloween Fest drink coolers – Pumpkin Man and Bloody Hand – will be available for purchase at in-park restaurants and food kiosks.

A wide range of trendy glow-in-the-dark clothing and souvenirs are available for purchase to help guests look sharp all day and night. For this year’s Halloween Fest, Ocean Park is introducing a series of glow-in-the-dark items, including tees for the entire family, metal keychain with pin set, wizard’s headgear and hammer shark plush hat, all essential to looking hip for Halloween parties and perfect for personal use or gifting. To let the merchandise really shine, Ocean Park has created the Glow-in-the-dark Pumpkineers, a dark retail space where guests can better appreciate the glow-in-the-dark effects of the items.

And to welcome families taking part in Halloween Fest, a host of game booths will be set up at Aqua City, so adults and kids can all get into the festive spirit. At Aqua City, for instance, there will be different booth games, including Pumpkin Power Throw, which is a tossing game; a Face Painting booth; and Pumpkin Crafting Workshop, where guests can create personalised Halloween headgears. As part of the Great Halloween Hunt, guests can visit six designated locations to collect seals on a special map to win a bag of free popcorn.
