Hong Kong’s Ocean Park Shines In Las Vegas By Clinching Three Awards at International Themed Attraction "Oscars"

(Hong Kong – 20 November 2009) Ocean Park Hong Kong made Hong Kong shine at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Attractions Expo 2009 being held in Las Vegas, Nevada between 16 and 20 November, by beating industry peers from 90 countries to clinch three coveted awards.  These included three categories for the 2009 IAAPA Brass Ring Awards and the Big E Award, respectively. Details are as follow:

The Brass Ring Awards
The Brass Ring Awards honour originality, creativity, and excellence in marketing, advertising, and public relations in the industry. Ocean Park Hong Kong was presented the 2009 Brass Ring Award for Best Outdoor Advertising and for Best Print Advertising.

The Brass Ring Award - Best Outdoor Advertising
Ocean Park Hong Kong’s unique outdoor marketing campaign for the launch of Amazing Asian Animals, including the use of advertisement media on public buses, the MTR (subway) and shopping malls (see pictures 1 to 3), impressed the judging panel, which presented Ocean Park Hong Kong with the Best Outdoor Advertising award.

The Brass Ring Award - Best Print Advertising
The”New Fear Formula” theme and the presentation of the print advertisements for the “Ocean Park Halloween Bash 2008” (pictures 4 and 5) became the winning entry for the Best Print Advertising award.  According to the judging panel, Ocean Park Hong Kong’s entry won on effectively bringing the key messages to life through the memorable copy and graphics.

The Big E Award
The Big E Awards honour the entertainment productions, the performers, and behind-the-scenes personnel who “make things happen” at themed attractions.

Ocean Park Hong Kong’s face-changing master clinched the 2009 Big E Award - Best Male Performer, Honorary Mention title.

Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, said, “IAAPA's Brass Ring Award and the Big E Award are considered the industry's "Oscars." We are honoured to clinch three awards this year, which demonstrated Hong Kong Ocean Park's strong position in the international arena, and is a testament to the boundless creativity and energy of our Ocean Park teams. “

Ocean Park Hong Kong is no newcomer to these accolades, as the Park has been recognised since 2004.  These included The Top Award for the "Brochure" and "Website" categories in 2004, The Top Award for "Media Kit" categories in 2005, Brass Ring Award - Distinguish Print Advertisement in 2006, Brass Ring Award - Electronic Media Category (Website) and Big E Award-Best Atmosphere/Street Show Performance/ Act in 2007.
