Explore what Ocean Park is all about.
In recognition of Ocean Park’s world-class live entertainment offerings, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) presented the Park with two Brass Ring Awards in the “2016 Excellence in Live Entertainment” categories of “Most Creative Sports/ Stunt Show” and “Spirit Award” at this years’ IAAPA Expo held in Orlando, Florida.
Founded in 1918 and with more than 5,000 attraction, corporate and individual members in 99 countries, IAAPA serves to raise overall standards in theme park and amusement facilities worldwide. Its Brass Ring Awards have long been an industrial symbol of excellence. The “2016 Excellence in Live Entertainment” award categories honour members who exemplify the importance of live entertainment in the attractions industry. Ocean Park was awarded “Most Creative Sports/ Stunt Show” with “Kaleidoscope Spectacular”, an extravaganza on ice which featured cutting-edge projection mapping technology at Ocean Park’s Christmas Sensation last year. Produced by Olympic skater Willy Bietak and choreographed by multiple international awards winner Sarah Kawahara, the show was presented by a team of international ice skaters who performed elegant ice skating and stunning aerial acts.
Setting an example of excellence, and having demonstrated a positive attitude and an exemplary work ethic, Ocean Park Project Supervisor of Events and Entertainment, Gizmo Ng, won the “Spirit Award” in recognition of his contributions working behind-the-scenes to support high-quality entertainment. He has been a member of staff ever since he joined Ocean Park in 2001 – nearly 16 years ago. Gizmo is currently the Project Supervisor, who is tasked with managing Ocean Park’s Event Production Coordinators to produce seasonal events from concept development to execution. Having been a core team member of the Park’s Halloween Fest production team, his dedication and efforts in gearing up Asia’s largest Halloween celebration has undoubtedly contributed to its success, earning compliments and good word-of-mouth from both local and overseas guests. His passion and loyalty to the Park extends beyond his working hours as he regularly brings his family to visit during his rest days, and inspires them to love the Park like he does.
Matthias Li, Ocean Park Chief Executive, said, “We are very honoured to have received the Brass Ring Awards for Excellence in Live Entertainment from IAAPA. We take pride in our year-round live entertainment offerings, and the two awards received in this category give us great confidence and reaffirm our efforts to continue bringing guests world-class live entertainment. Everyone in the Ocean Park family is also thrilled that Gizmo was singled out for an award at the international level. He represents everything that is great about the Park, and I would personally like to congratulate him on his achievement.”
