Dr. Allan Zeman Appointed as Honorary Advisor of Tai Shue Wan Steering Group

2014-07-14

Ocean Park’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce today the appointment of Dr. Allan Zeman as the Honorary Advisor of the Tai Shue Wan Steering Group, focusing on the implementation of the Park’s Tai Shue Wan waterpark Project. During his three-year advisory term, Dr. Zeman will work closely with the Park’s Board of Directors as well as the management team to provide advice on the development of the upcoming waterpark, which will help strengthen the Park as a destination resort in the next few years.

Mr. Leo Kung, Chairman of Ocean Park, said, “We are very happy to welcome Allan in assuming the advisory role, and I look forward to continuing to work with him through the waterpark project. His profound experience and knowledge in the industry, as well as his passion for Ocean Park, will be greatly beneficial to us, and I am confident that with Allan’s assistance, we will be able to deliver to the community this milestone development which is of enormous importance to both Ocean Park and Hong Kong’s tourism industry.”

The brand new world-class water park, with an estimated budget of HK$2.29 billion, will be an all-weather water attraction that seamlessly melds with the beautiful hills and landscape of Tai Shue Wan. Together with other upcoming developments such as the koala exhibit, ‘Adventures in Australia’, in 2014, and Ocean Hotel in 2017, the new Waterpark will further enhance the overall attractiveness and increase the capacity of Ocean Park. The project is expected to break ground in late 2014, with a targeted opening date in 2017.

Dr. Zeman has served as the Chairman of the Board of Ocean Park for the past 11 years since 2003. He spearheaded and oversaw the successful execution of Ocean Park’s 6-year, 8-phase, HK$5.55 billion Master Redevelopment Plan (MRP), and brought to Hong Kong Asia’s first ‘Applause Award’ – the highest international accolade in the theme park industry. During his tenure, the Park was also recognized for demonstrating the highest standards in animal care by becoming the first zoological facility outside North America to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in 2003 and gaining accreditation for three 5-year terms to date.
